Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a Rental Agreement provided upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the latter will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Rental Vehicle Requirements
- To rent a vehicle through Lincoln Car Hire, you must be at least 21 years old, though some vehicle types may have different age restrictions, with potential extra fees for those under 25. You must possess a valid driving license appropriate for the vehicle class, held for the required duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, you need to present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with valid payment details and a security deposit. Any further criteria outlined in the Rental Agreement must also be met.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Lincoln branch. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment and a security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. Prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept all major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment platforms.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by you. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. Ensure that the fuel level matches that at the time of collection; otherwise, refueling fees will apply. If you anticipate returning the vehicle late, please inform us as soon as possible, as late returns may result in extra charges. You will be held liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Overview
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. You can find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to lower your financial risk. Reviewing these options is advisable. You are liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless further coverage is purchased. Negligence, misuse, or violations of these Terms will result in your responsibility for damages, independent of insurance provisions.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. Engaging in racing, off-roading, or other risky pursuits is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is also forbidden. Operating the vehicle under the influence of substances is strictly against policy. Additionally, it should only be used as intended, adhering to specified passenger and weight limits. Driving outside the designated geographical area requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms could lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Lincoln Car Hire assumes no responsibility for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the amount you paid for your rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be handled exclusively by the courts in this jurisdiction.
